Lalo Schifrin (b. 1932) was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He had established himself as the leader of one of South America's top jazz bands when he was offered the post of pianist for Dizzy Gillespie's band. In 1963, he was hired by MGM studios as a composer, where he wrote the score for "The Cincinnati Kid."
